Stylesheet Help Needed

There's too much space between my blogbody (i.e., the date above the most recent entry) and the banner (i.e., the bottom of the banner) at the top of this page. I'm assuming this is a question of adjusting margins or padding? But I don't know which element to adjust. Can anyone help?

Try 'em both until one works. :) Seriously, that's how I do it.

It looks okay to me, though. (Firebird/Windows) A little blank space isn't anything to be afraid of.

Do you really mean blogbody? It looks like that and the date are separate. In any case, if I'm understanding you correctly, the setting you want is the padding for the class "banner." You have it set to 15 pixels all around. Try changing the setting for bottom padding to something less than that.

This might be helpful -- I went to Google and typed in your blog's URL, and Google gave me the option of viewing a cached version. That version's most recent entry is April 7 2003, so it won't help you recover the missing posts, but it did seem to contain all the appropriate template data -- at least when I took a very quick look at the page source. (I made a copy in case Google re-caches a more recent version before you get there, but I've not had a chance to check the copy to see if it includes the code too.)

That's good thinking Rana, but the cached version still references the current style sheet: I tried that trick when the site was down and the cached page had no css formatting; now it has the current formatting.

Rana -- Thanks, I did that, and it's really helping me reconstruct the blogroll. But nothing on style: in this area I am starting from scratch.

Well... losing your prototype is supposed to be good for you, in a "do it right with the benefits of hindsight" way. Alas, one of the benefits of hindsight is usually that one should have taken more careful notes the first time around.

I believe the culprit to be in the style definitions for class "blog" which currently defines "padding-top: 15px". If this statement is removed, the extra space goes with it (at least as far as my eye can see).
